DEATH ANGEL release video for "Hatred United / United Hate"

San Francisco Bay Area thrash legends Death Angel's new album 'The Evil Divide' is due for release on 27th May via Nuclear Blast. Today, the band has released a music video for the track "Hatred United / United Hate".
Watch the clip on Youtube here: https://youtu.be/6WXBob7a9go

The video was directed and edited by Tommy Jones for Videohammer Studios during the band's recording sessions for The Evil Divide and features renowned tattoo artist Bob Tyrrell. The song also includes a special guest guitar solo from Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA).

'The Evil Divide' was recorded at AudioHammer studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof(Trivium, Deicide), who previously worked on 2010's 'Relentless Retribution' and 2013's 'The Dream Calls For Blood'. Mastering duties were handled by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York City.

Three decades into their celebrated career, Death Angel remain as hungry as ever. As a result, uncompromising urgency and unpredictability define the Bay Area thrash quintet’s eighth full-length album, 'The Evil Divide'. The group - Mark Osegueda (vocals), Rob Cavestany (lead guitar), Ted Aguilar (guitar), Will Carroll (drums), and Damien Sisson (bass) - satiate the appetite for buzzsaw speed riffs, double bass mayhem, and scorching vocals over the course of ten new anthems.
Artwork for the album was created by renowned tattoo artist Bob Tyrrell.

"Both Mark and I had been tattooed by Bob, and when the subject of album artwork came up," commented guitarist Rob Cavestaney. "We approached him to create the design. We wanted an image that would represent the idea of 'The Evil Divide'; something beautiful, yet simultaneously wicked, hence the death moth. Bob realised our vision with mere pencil and paper, and now we proudly present to you the cover artwork for our 8th studio album, 'The Evil Divide'."

MORE ON 'THE EVIL DIVIDE':
'The Evil Divide' stands out as the culmination of thirty-plus years of music for Death Angel. Their career kicked off with legendary debut, 'The Ultra-Violence', in 1987. The classic 'Frolic Through The Park' began to cement their legacy and even earned the distinction of landing on Loudwire’s list of the 'Top Ten Thrash Albums NOT Released by The Big 4'. The group broke up following 1990’s 'Act III' only to reunite in 2004 on 'The Art of Dying' for the next generation.

In 2008, Death Angel teamed with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Rush, Mastodon) for 'Killing Season' recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606. In 2010, 'Relentless Retribution' boasted a cameo from virtuosos Rodrigo y Gabriela, while 2013’s 'The Dream Calls For Blood' bowed at #72 on theBillboard Top 200, selling 5,400 copies first-week and earning the group’s first-ever entry onto that respective chart.

Beyond continued public praise from the likes of James Hetfield of Metallica and Robb Flynn of Machine Head, the band’s music has popped up everywhere from Carl’s Jr. commercials to 'Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III'. Their fire burns brighter than ever in 2016.

SABATON to release "The Last Stand" on August 19th!

Swedish Heavy Metal heroes SABATON are currently working on their new studio album, entitled The Last Stand, which is going to be released worldwide on August 19th through Nuclear Blast.

"We once work again with Peter Tägtgren in his newly upgraded and top class Abyss studio in Sweden to record, produce and mix the album. The mastering will be done by Jonas Kjellgren who also works in the same building in nice Pärlby on the countryside of Sweden. Both 'Carolus Rex' and 'Heroes' were done in the same way and we feel very comfortable to return to the same place and people again. Fans will recognize the sound of the album as SABATON, but we really feel we took it a step forward this time", says Pär Sundström.

The artwork on the album is made by Peter Sallaí who has been with SABATON since 'Carolus Rex'. Pär Sundström explains:
"We had the idea to make an image reflecting soldiers of different times representing the different historical battles we sing about on the new album. This only reveals a small part of the album topics though".

"The concept of a last stand has always fascinated me, and both me and Pär were ”all in excited” about the subject so it was an easy choice to make", says vocalist Joakim Broden about the album title 'The Last Stand'. "We always have several ideas for albums to work with. Since there are countless different views and angles of war, we will unfortunately never run out of ideas. We kinda felt that the last stand was something perfect for SABATON. Something we really wanted to do. Heroes was a perfect theme and The Last Stand is right down our alley too. It was exciting to do the research", adds Sundstöm.

Few more weeks until the final work is done. But everyone in the SABATON camp is more than satisfied. Joakim Broden sums it up: "Did any other artist ever say ”Our new album is the best we ever made”? That’s not for us to decide, that’s up to our fans..."

MUSIC FOR NATIONS TO RE-ISSUE PARADISE LOST’S ‘SHADES OF GOD’ ON PICTURE DISC ON 22ND JULY

Paradise Lost, the genre-defining British doom metal band, are re-issuing their seminal 1992 album ‘Shades of God’ on 12” picture disc through Music for Nations on 22nd July.

Frontman Nick Holmes comments:
‘We recorded Shades of God in a remote farmhouse near Kettering. It was our first album with Music For Nations and producer Simon Efemy and probably the most memorable recording session we have ever done. For the first 3 weeks we had no TV to watch, the internet of course didn't exist so we had to entertain ourselves with Ouija boards, ghost stories and playing tricks on each other for amusement.

Musically I think it’s one our heaviest albums and very different to Gothic, heading in a more doomy direction, really riff orientated with a vocal style that would eventually lead to Icon.’

The album, a follow up to 1990’s Gothic album, is seen as the moment where Paradise Lost moved towards a more doom-centric sound, whilst still encompassing a wide range of other musical genres, showing off the band’s creativity and inventiveness in forging their own distinct take on doom metal, a style that would be continued on 1993’s ‘Icon’.

The album also saw the band’s initial transition away from using traditional death-metal growls by blending them in with clean vocals, and quieter passages at times throughout the record.

Alongside the likes of Katatonia and My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost were a number of bands in the 1990s who took their initial doom/death-metal style and gradually towards a more melodic, goth-metal sound with ‘Shades of God’ being one of the most important steps in this evolution for the band.

Since their formation in 1988, Paradise Lost have been consistent pioneers in the doom metal genre. Maintaining a key lineup of founding members Nick Holmes (vocals), Greg Mackintosh (lead guitar, keyboards), Aaron Aedy (rhythm guitar) and Steve Edmonson (bass guitar), the band released their fourteenth and most recent album ‘The Plague Within’ last year.

Paradise Lost are returning to the UK festival circuit this year with a mainstage appearance at Bloodstock festival on Saturday 13th August.

Earlier this week Music For Nations also announced the release of Opeth’s live album ‘Lamenations’ on vinyl for the very first time on 22nd July.

It began with the bombastic stage in Wacken, and we worked for one year on its design. In Dusseldorf, we even celebrated for two nights in a row. One ‘Classic Night’ with a 40-piece orchestra and one ‘balls to the wall’ rock show on the second evening. It continued subsequently nonstop – with an anniversary tour, which led us to Russia, South America and my second home, the USA, among others.."

Devildriver `Trust No One’ Album Review

Devildriver, the Californian groove machine have gone through quite some changes in recent years, firstly Dez having reconciled with former band mates in Coal Chamber and released the killer album `Rivals’ and with Devildriver itself going through change with new additions Neal Tiemann, Austin D’Amond and Diego Ibarra joining the fold in more recent years.

This there 7th record and there 4th record with pretty much the guy in metal Mark Lewis at the helm, Devildriver have `dialled’ their sound in and that continues here on `Trust No One’.

10 tracks of pure adrenaline, fast, furious metal is the order of the day on `Trust No One’. From the opening track Dez and company grab you and toss you into the pit as you will want to rage after listening to this.

Ok so starting with the lyrics and song titles on `Trust No One’ certainly carries a constant theme that of trust and unquestionably Dez since `Winter Kills’ has had his trust betrayed it clearly shows, he’s distinctive bark has pure venom attached as he spits out songs like `Trust No One’ and `Daybreak’ with pure animal hatred.

From the opener `Testimony of Truth’ through to `For What It’s Worth’ you can certainly hear the Devildriver tone intensely raging through the speakers. Comparing this to `Winter Kills’, which in its approach felt more moody and dark where as `Trust No One’ is a faster and positively more thrash inspired and ready for the sweat infested mosh pits.

`This Deception’ opens with an eerie Coal Chamber inspired piano and buzz which if you hate wasps then watch out, before the song launches into a relentless fast riff then as the song progress into melodic guitar leads and a fucking juicy solo and has all the feel of `Dead To Rights’ certainly expect this to be a possible single.

The single `Daybreak’ opens with a seriously heavy adaptation of Motley Crue’s ‘Kickstart My Heart’ dive bomb before debuting the song with a very machine like start stop riff, what you’ll notice across the board on `Trust No One’ is the huge melodies and hooks which to the non-initiated would be practically impossible for Metal as it’s all noise and cookie monster vocals to them.

You’d think that having pretty much half the band replaced would put Devildriver at a disadvantage, however on `Trust No One’ the band hasn’t missed a beat and the inclusion of Neal and company certainly hasn’t done the band harm or its recognised sound. Dez sounds fiercely pissed off with his vocals are certainly as venomous as they have ever been and from the lyrics and the song titles, someone is definitely to blame

A faster more thrash orientated effort than the moody `Winter Kills’ and certainly if you want your face ripped off in the pit then this album is definitely right up your alley.

WHITECHAPEL reveals details for new album, 'Mark of the Blade'

Launches lyric video for title track online!

On June 24th, WHITECHAPEL will release their sixth full-length, 'Mark of the Blade', worldwide via Metal Blade Records. Pushing their sound forward with each successive release, 'Mark of the Blade' remains true to the band's roots while venturing into previously unexplored territory, both sonically and lyrically. To view the lyric video for the first single - the album's title track - and to pre-order the record in various formats, please visit: metalblade.com/whitechapel

Reunited with producer Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse), WHITECHAPELhas redefined who they are and what they are capable of with their new album, 'Mark of the Blade'. Kicking off with "The Void" - which has a Slayer-esque ferocity that is perfectly suited to the band's three-guitar attack - the songs that follow all leave a distinct impression, and by the time the rich, dark melodies on "Decennium" bring the record to a close, it's impossible to deny the emotional weight brought to bear. "It's the most dynamic record we've done, in the sense that one song can be very aggressive while the next one will be softer and sentimental," guitarist Alex Wade asserts. "At this point in our career and as we grow older, we are taking a more open-minded approach to creating our music, allowing what we think sounds good to evolve naturally, rather than to just write what is expected of us."

PERIPHERY return with new album, 'Periphery III: Select Difficulty', on July 22, 2016

PERIPHERY, the D.C.-based prog innovators return this summer with a new album, 'Periphery III: Select Difficulty' which is set for a release via Century Media Records outside of North America, Australia/NZ and Japan on July 22nd, 2016.

“’Periphery III: Select Difficulty’ is finally complete and we’re extremely excited to show everyone,” said guitar player Jake Bowen. “For the past couple of years we’ve been refining our collaborative process as a band and we feel that it’s only getting better with the completion of this album. We spent two months writing songs that are not only representative of the PERIPHERY sound but also reflect where all of us are as musicians, working together has helped us tread new ground musically and creatively. In support of ‘Periphery III’ you’ll see us hit the road in the States this summer with SikTh, Chon, and Toothgrinder on the Sonic Unrest tour, it’s going to be a blast! See you on the road!”

Ahead of the release of 'Periphery III: Select Difficulty', the band will head over to the UK to play the prestigious Download Festival on June 12.

PERIPHERY’s own Adam “Nolly” Getgood oversaw production for the album as he did with the “Juggernaut” releases. Nolly will no longer be a touring member of PERIPHERY, as he will be expanding his production work in his native UK. He remains an integral part, and a member, of PERIPHERY. At this time no decision has been made about a touring bassist.

“Touring with PERIPHERY has shown me some of the most incredible experiences I could ever have imagined, to meet amazing people all over the world and to create friendships for life; it has truly been an honour to perform in front of every audience who has watched us play over the years. However the touring life isn’t something that everyone can continue doing indefinitely, and for me, the time has come where I want to settle into a more normal existence, be able to make plans further into the future than the touring life enables, and to be able to focus more on the studio side of my music career,” explained Nolly. “I will, however, be remaining as a band member and contributing in any way that I can while the band is off the road; I love all of my fellow bandmates like brothers and I’m so grateful for the incredible support they’ve shown as I make this huge life change. I know they are going to be taking the music and performances to the next level when they hit the road later this year.”

The band will host a four-day, immersive summer camp dubbed the “Periphery Summer Jam” on July 25 to 29 at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York. Registration and further information can be found here: www.peripherysummerjam.com.
